Student Eligibility
Students in grade 8 or below and under 14.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 8.
Competition Structure
40 minutes examination with 25 multiple choice questions. For each question, 1 point are given for correct answer, 0 point for blank or incorrect answer. The full score is 25 points.
List of the Awards:
- Certificate of Distinction: Achieves a perfect score.
- Honor Roll of Distinction: Achieves a score in the top 1% worldwide.
- Honor Roll: Achieves a score in the top 1% ~ 5% worldwide.
- Certificate of Achievement: Student in grade 6 or below who achieves a score of 15 or above.

Dr. Jiangang Yao was fascinated with mathematics as a child and started his involvement with mathematical Olympiads since then. He won the gold medal with full marks in the 35th International Mathematical Olympiad and got math PhD degree from UC Berkeley. He has been the coach for mathematical Olympiad at various levels for 30 years, and has written a few popular mathematical Olympiad books in Chinese. Now Dr. Yao is a fixed income portfolio manager in Hong Kong, and voluntarily organizes AMC and Math Kangaroo in Hong Kong, Japan and Macau.
